In addition to the administration of research, proposal submission and regulatory compliance, the Office of Research also provides facilites and services that directly support research at UC Irvine. Among these are:
- University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) - A service unit with facility oversight that provides quality veterinary care, animal husbandry, housing and environmental enrichment; facilitating campus research and instructional programs through collaboration, consultation, training, and other professional services.
- Transgenic Mouse Facility (TMF) - A core facility that provides services on a recharge basis for making, breeding, genotyping, importing, and preserving genetically-modified mice and embryonic stem cells.
- Shared Facilities Depot - A comprehrensive list of core and shared research facilities and equipment. While some of these services and equipment are only available to colleagues across the university, many (like the TMF) are also available to external constituents.
