NEW OPPORTUNITY: CCST, California Science and Technology Policy Fellowship

The California Science and Technology Policy Fellowships provide an opportunity for up to 10 physical, biological and social scientists and engineers to be placed within the California State Legislature annually for a one-year term. The purpose of the fellowships is to provide unique professional development opportunities while assisting California policy makers through sound and unbiased scientific and technical advice regarding issues before the State Senate and Assembly. Fellows will be recruited nationally.
Recipients of fellowships will be paid a stipend of $45,000. If funding is available, an additional stipend may be made available to fellows who demonstrate that they meet specific criteria of experience and current compensation. The fellowship will also provide allowances towards the cost of relocation to Sacramento (relocation is mandatory), health insurance, professional development, and travel expenses.
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for this fellowship:
- Ph.D., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M., D.D.S., Ed.D. or equivalent advanced degree specializing in a physical, biological or social science discipline or
- M.S. degree in engineering, plus at least three years of post-degree professional experience; and
- Complete application package submitted by the deadline.
- Non US citizens must provide proof of appropriate immigration status.
Degrees need not be conferred at the time of application, but must be awarded before September 2009 or the applicant will be ineligible for the fellowship.

- A candidate statement
- Three letters of recommendation submitted directly to CCST by the writers

There is no limit on the number of applications that may go forward from UCI.
