SUBJECT: Recovery Act: Early Head Start Expansion (ACF)

TOPIC: The Administration for Children and Families is inviting applications support the enrollment of additional children and families as well as create new teaching and other positions in Early Head Start programs.

DEADLINE: July 9.

FUNDS: A total of $619 million is available for approximately 600 awards averaging $965,000 per year for two years.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to many domestic entities, including public institutions of higher education.

AREAS: Early Head Start programs provide, directly or through referral, early and comprehensive child development and family support services.

The program aims to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children, support parents' efforts to fulfill their parental roles, and help parents move toward self-sufficiency.
