Call for input on 'shovel ready' construction projects (Email)
Dear Colleagues,
The Federal Stimulus Bill includes a significant amount of funding for research facility construction and renovation projects, at a variety of levels to be determined, with the goal of quickly creating jobs and getting research facilities up and fully functional. These construction projects should be "shovel-ready", i.e. already be at an advanced stage (planned, approved, written or submitted). The funding will be distributed through a variety of channels at several Federal agencies, and we should be prepared to respond to each of the calls as they become available. In order to best coordinate and prepare this response, we are seeking information from the campus community.
The Office of Research needs everyone’s input on what they have pending or ready to go. Please reply to this message by informing us of:
- Projects currently planned or on hold (including shell space build-outs, infrastructure and renovations).
- The potential impact of the project (particularly in terms of jobs created)
- Estimated cost of the project
- Relevant agency contact names for follow-up (this last piece of information will also help others on campus, and let others help you).
Thank you for your assistance.
-Sue
