The Center for Complex and Active Materials (CCAM)—a National Science Foundation-funded Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI)—builds on UCI’s strengths in multidisciplinary science and engineering research, experiential learning, world-class facilities, and a commitment to diversity.

CCAM is committed to making breakthrough discoveries of new complex and active materials with novel functionalities to address urgent needs for applications in advanced manufacturing and biotechnologies, provide opportunities for workforce training, and technology transfer to industry.
