Clean Energy Institute

The UCI Clean Energy Institute is a conglomerate of faculty engineers building upon the excellent UCI programs and centers in electrochemistry, national fuel cell research, mobility and connectivity, and “solutions that scale” initiatives.

With the support of the UCI Vice Chancellor for Research, as innovative and seasoned engineers, we are developing strategic plans to launch now and in the future.
Our focus is on research for a clean California H2 ecosystem through UCI faculty leadership in fundamental science, interdisciplinary science/engineering research, applied research, and campus demonstration.

For over 40 years, UCI’s consistent research, outreach, and advocacy on clean energy through electrochemistry and hydrogen have inspired the U.S. Department of Energy and the world to contribute towards this effort. UCI was and is the leading institution in the U.S. on clean energy research.
