To address recent federal developments that increase the University's risk associated with engagements with Huawei, the Office of Graduate Studies and ECAS worked closely with Vice Chancellors for Research to develop and outline restrictions on engagements with Huawei. Based on recent developments, UCI has decided to extend the moratorium to Futurewei, Huawei's US subsidiary.Â
The UC moratorium restricts any future engagements with Huawei, calls for the cessation of all pending projects, gifts, purchases or other engagements and requires locations to wind down existing agreements and consider risks associated with engagements with Huawei's U.S. subsidiaries.
UCI prohibits all employees with the authority to sign or otherwise bind UCI to Institutional Agreements from entering, renewing, or continuing any Institutional Agreement involving an entity on the DOD Section 1286 List, the BIS Restricted Party Lists, or both.
UCI employees with the authority to sign or otherwise bind UCI to Institutional Agreements cooperate with the Office of Research by providing accurate and complete facts and information about the Institutional Agreements with Listed Entities.
