Huron IRB + hSCRO
The Office of Research is pleased to share that Huron IRB will replace the current IRB and hSCRO e-submission system (Kuali Research Protocols - KRP). Our anticipated go-live is scheduled for Fall 2025.
Why are we making this change?
In September 2021 UCI implemented KRP to replace a 20-year-old home grown system. With the growth of our research enterprise, we have determined that a more robust IRB system is needed. After a thorough analysis, we have selected Huron IRB. Huron IRB is a highly reputable electronic solution. Users characterize Huron IRB as stable, reliable, and efficient. Further, it is widely used by our commercial IRB partners, and research-intensive institutions of higher education, including UCLA, USC, CHLA, and soon, UCSF.

How You Can Help
- Help us give the new system a name!
For example: UCLA calls their IRB system - “Bruin IRB.” - We need "Project Champions"
UCI Colleagues will join in guided tours of Huron IRB, and periodic meetings through adoption of the system.
Should you have any questions, or if you are interested in being a Project Champion, please reach out to:
